Ray Chen
Co-Visual Effects Supervisor
Ray Chen is currently serving as co-visual effects supervisor on the comedy “Little Fockers” for Universal Pictures. He most recently supervised the creative work for Rhythm & Hues Studios on “Night at the Museum: Battle for the Smithsonian” and “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,” both for 20th Century Fox.
As Co-Visual Effects Supervisor on the Academy Award-winning “The Golden Compass,” Ray led the Rhythm & Hues’ Look Development team for the numerous realistic animal “daemons” featured in the fantasy epic.
Since joining Rhythm & Hues in 1996, Ray has contributed to several films, including “Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift” as co-VFX supervisor; “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe,” as lighting/compositing sequence supervisor; “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed,” as lighting supervisor; and “X-Men 2” as lighting lead. Ray started out at R&H as a lighting technical director on “Scooby Doo,” “Cats & Dogs,” “Little Nicky,” “The 6th Day,” “Mystery Men,” “Babe: Pig in the City,” “Mouse Hunt” and “Speed 2.”
Ray earned a BA in Visual Arts from Brown University, and an MFA in Computer Graphics from Pratt Institute. While completing school, he worked in New York doing commercial production.
